Khushboo Sachdev: Director, Su-vastika Systems Private Limited
Khushboo Sachdev shoulders the strategic, business and operational responsibilities of Su-vastika. Her deep-rooted understanding of the nuances of the solar energy business and knowledge of its trends have ensured Su-vastika’s entry into new markets. Prior to this, she has had stints with prestigious corporations such as Headstrong, EXL, G4S Securities, and American Express.
Sachdev believes that the most pressing issue confronting the renewable energy manufacturing industry is shortage of power, especially during the summer months when the heatwave peaks, despite a staggering installed capacity of 47.66 GW of solar power as per government data. “We might have the capacity to provide a surplus of 48 GW of solar power to the grid, considering peak summers when there is no dearth of bright sunshine and longer hours of sun exposure, but I do feel we need infrastructural support to leverage this opportunity,” she remarks.
In her opinion, without a storage solution, there will always be a shortfall, as this surplus power is viable for the discoms only when grid electricity is available. Without it, this surplus power will not be useful, as it is only a supplement and will work only if primary power is available.
Sachdev’s management style involves learning and executing. “I am a keen learner and I know there is a lot to catch up on, but I am blessed with a great team of professionals who help me in running the business, with each having their own space to monitor and execute,” she says.
Sachdev’s primary goal is to help the company enter the Rs 1 billion turnover club with their new product range of solar and lithium-ion battery bank uninterruptible power supply (UPS) solutions that will replace diesel generators of up to 500 kW. This will also address the pressing environmental issues at hand, as the products will be green with minimum emissions and no maintenance. “We will also be launching a smaller range of UPSs with an inbuilt lithium-ion battery bank that will be for users with small loads,” she says.
Khushboo has a master’s degree in English literature and a diploma in French language, and has a natural flair for training. She spends most of her spare time with her four-year-old twins. “We love to go to parks, snuggle up to read, or play with sticker books,” she says.
